On the island of Kadavu, Ambassador Thiedemann inaugurated another German development project during his recent official visit to Fiji.

Using their own resources, the residents of the isolated settlement of Waisomo have built a community centre for district-wide youth work and educational and cultural events. Funds provided by the Federal Foreign Office helped to expand the building by adding a solar energy system and a lavatory block. Together, the people of Waisomo and the Ambassador celebrated this successful project with traditional music and festivities.  Enlarge image (© German Embassy Welllington)

Administered through the German Organisation for International Cooperation (GIZ), German development funds have also enabled a resettlement program for Narikoso, a village threatened by climate change to be implemented.
