Ambassador presents Letter of Credence in Fiji

German Ambassador Mr Gerhard Thiedemann visited the Fiji Islands from 5 to 8 March 2017 on the occasion of presenting his Letter of Credence by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Joachim Gauck to President of the Republic of Fiji, HE Jioji Konusi Konrote. The ambassador noted his appreciation of the warm reception to Fiji and meetings with the President, Prime Minister Josaia Bainimarama, and other members of the political and administrative leadership of the country. Topics discussed covered, among others, climate change and environmental protection, especially the COP 23 conference in Bonn under Fiji presidency (please also refer to the link below).

 Mr Thiedemann also met with the Secretary General of the Pacific Island Forum, Dame Meg Taylor, with the EU delegation and members of the Diplomatic Corps in Suva;  he visited the office of the German Honorary Consul David Aidney as well as members of the German development cooperation agency GIZ and met with some of the German community in Fiji.
