Ever since spending time there as a coach of rescue personnel for the Samoan Fire and Emergency Services in 2010, he has generously devoted time and energy to a range of aid projects. This has always involved the refurbishment and restauration of used but operating equipment. The latest of these involved second mobile kitchen which was financially supported by the THW.  The first of those had already been provided by Drewes in 2011.

Previous donations had been an ambulance, an ultra-sound machine and other technical medical equipment for Sataua Hospital which had been transported all the way from Germany to Samoa. The THW organizes the transportation operations via the development initiative  "Engagement Global".
