Tapestry in Commemoration of WWI

Enlarge image Ambassador Thiedemann and Embassy members in front of the tapisserie (© German Embassy) On 6 November 2017, German Federal President Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier paid official visits to Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. His program in New Zealand included a visit to the National War Memorial  in Wellington where he attended a wreath laying ceremony and officially handed over a tapestry commemorating WWI.  The artist Stephan Schenk had travelled from Germany to participate in the ceremony and presented his artwork. At the end of January 2018, the tapestry found its final place in the entrance hall to the „Great War Exhibition“ adjacent to the National War Memorial.
