Charity concert with „Trio A Due“
The German Embassy in Wellington held a charity concert with „Trio A Due“ at Old St. Paul's Church on 22 March 2011 to raise funds for the victims of the Christchurch earthquake.
„Trio A Due“ are two German singers who came together in 1996. They are known for their extraordinary arrangements of most varied music styles and the three unique sounds created by Almut Seebeck's soprano, Felicitas Weyer's mezzo soprano and her piano accompaniment. The ensemble arranged a delightful programme of Arie Antiche, Yiddish Songs, Celtic Traditionals and Jazz. The audience was enthralled by the fine musicianship and the exceptional performance and acknowledged it with continuing applause.
Dr. Almut Seebeck has been a lecturer for Lied at the University of Queensland, Australia, since 2005. Felicitas Weyer holds a lectureship for song accompaniment and vocal training at the University of Würzburg, Germany, and the University of Queensland, Australia.
The ensemble is internationally successful and is invited regularly to concerts all over Europe and in Australia. Being on their first tour to New Zealand, the duo has made their mark here with various concerts and workshops as well and has already announced their planned return next year.
